In May of 2003, I had the unique opportunity to assist the WDVA's Military Funeral Honors Program.  A
"Supermarket of Benefits" was held at Milwaukee's Miller Park.  They provided Booth space for me to try and
promote BAA. The state really tries to get live buglers out as much as possible.  They even send volunteers our
way when civilians contact them about sounding Taps! Those Wisconsin members who wish to work with state
honor teams are added to their list, and are a second option when military players are unavailable.

This also marked the first trip of the new Digital Bugle into the State of Wisconsin.
As I left for the day Friday afternoon, it was jokingly suggested that we go head to head down on the field
some time the next day.  10 am Sat. morning Brewers head of none game day events came and collected us
up!  As we took the field numerous WDVA officials started  stepping out onto the upper deck behind home
plate to hear just how the Digital deal sounded compared to a live player.  Boy was the pressure up!!

I let the machine go first! It didn't do to bad of a job I thought, probably nicer than any boom box!  Now it
was my turn!    Relax Dan, Take a deep breath and let it sing out from the heart.  Boy did it ever! I played
solidly through out, adding just a bit of vibrato along the way.
As the echo died the Brewers official really said it all. He excitedly walked over to me and said,"
Dude, you are awesome!! Will you come play the National Anthem for us some day before a game!"

Many players get up in arms over the new machine! I don't think the true test is between man and machine.   It
truly it is between the tape deck and the digital horn.
I believe if a live player is absolutely unavailable, the digital horn will be much more proffered over the boom
box.
SHAME ON THE GUY WHO DOESN'T TRY HIS VERY BEST TO FIND A LIVE PLAYER!!!!
